Ok. This book is horrible. But I'm gonna read it still. I have to. >.>
Ok. Well O-Lan is pregnant again. Yes AGAIN. Gosh. Wang-Lung's uncle asks for money and Wang Lung says no. So his uncle slaps him and does the whole respect for your elder speech. It's kinda sad that a family member would tell the village how poor his nephew was treating him which make the village try and steal from him. I dont see why they would only steal from one person. I also agree why they dont sell their own furniture. If you can not survive, too bad! So O-Lan gives birth to a girl and Wang-Lung thinks that this is the start of his misfortune. God. Just cause you got a girl doesnt mean that its the start of misfortune. The MAN is responsible for the sex of a child after all. Gosh. And O-Lan got pregnant again and when she gave birth to another girl, the baby died because they could not feed them anymore. So sad. And he had to give the baby to a dog becasue he could not bury it. Now they are going to move to the south because of the famine. When they get to the south they start to beg for money and Wang Lung has gotten a hard working job. The sons steal food and beg on the streets. O-Lan is pregnant AGAIN! THE FIFTH TIME! If your starving and poor there is NO way you can support a child. O-Lan beats her children for not begging hard enough and not sealing a sufficent amount of food. Its pathetic. And O-Lan says tat Wang Lung should sell their daughter into slavery for money. Soon there might be a revolution. ( rich and poor)
I dont think that O-Lan is a good wife at all! Beating her snos for NOT begging WELL enough. Not STEALING enoguh food?! Selling her daughter into SLAVERY!?! That lady is crazy. Some mother she is.

The Good Earth #2
Ok. So in The Good Earth, Wang Lung is pretty much happy that O-Lan is his wife. She does everythign around the house. And O-Lan is now pregnant and wants to show the old mistress her newborn child. She gives birth to a son and Wang Lung is really happy. He bought a pound of sugar, 50 eegs, and 4 sticks of incense. For his one month birthday, Wang Lung gave out red dyed eggs to everyone ( a sign it was a boy). For New Years Wang Lung bought red pieces of paper with good luck worrds on it. When O-Lan brought her son to the Hwang's house, she found out they were not doing that well since they spend money recklessly. Wang Lung is hapy for their fortune and is afraid that bad spirits will do something so he lies about his fortune. ( O__o Makes no sense to me. But then again its Ancient China and not much made sense.) Um Wang Lung bouht a piece of land from the Huangs and O-Lan is pregnant again. Wang Lung is more pissed than glad because well she isnt helping out with the harvest season. But the harvest ends up being good and he gets another son.
The Good Earth
So now I'm reading The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. It's about Ancient China and the lives of a married couple. It is 448 pages. So I should be done with the book in 4 weeks.
The main character is Wang Lung and he is a poor farmer who is about to get a wife. He goes to the house of hwang and gets a wife from the old mistress. His wife to be is O-Lan. His father wanted him to get an unattractive wife because a pretty one would have too many men looking at her and would not be a virgin. I dont see how a slave girl would be better than a pretty girl. Makes no sense. Then Wang Lung takes O-lan back to his house and wants to introduce her to his family. She said she would not because she is not his wife yet. Must be some sort of respect kind of thing. Another thing that makes no sense again. >.>
Truthfully I don't want to read this book but its on the list and I have the book. Plus my aunt and mom read it and said I should try it so I will. Hopefully its an ok book.

Ok. So I finish Go Ask Alice. Yay! =.=
So pretty much Alice's whole life is really messed up. She has taken so many different drugs, ran away many times, went to drug rehab, had to go through surgery because she took pot by accident. So yeah. Her life was really messed up. At the end of the book, she thought she would be fine since she had Joel and that she left rehab and no one bothered her. She thought she wasn't going to need the journal anymore. So she gave it up and decided to live a normal peacful drug-free life. In the epilouge it said that she died three weeks after deciding not to write in a journal anymore. They do not know if it was an accident or if it was because of drugs.
I thougth the book was really good because it was a real person. She wanted to do things in her life but she ended up taking the wrong path and doing drugs. It can really show a person how messed up a person's life can really be.

Character Profile
OK. I'm going to post about the character profile first.
So of course you would think I would use Alice but its so easy. I'm going to do Joel.
So Joel is this understanding and kind man.
Understanding: He is understanding because well Alice (if that's really her name) told him parts of her life that no one knew about. She felt comfortable about telling Joel about how she used drugs. She felt comfortable about telling him about running away. And well she just felt commfortable around him. Instead of hating her for taking drugs and doing things she shouldn't have done, he understood and still talked to her. He didn't go and tell her parents. He didnt go and ignore her which would lead her to take even more drugs. On page 160 she wrote I told him the partial truth...He said that he really cared about me and that he was sure I could handlle it because basically I was a good and string person.
Kind: He is kind because on page192 Joel wrote a letter to her when she was in rehab. She wrote that Joel's letter was great. I was really afraid toread it but I'm glad I did. He is the most warm, compassionate, forgiving, loving, most understanding person in the world. on page 211 she describes how Joel came over from Chicago just to be there for her birthday.

Go Ask Alice Symbols
I am now starting to read Go Ask Alice by Annouymous. So its about a girl named Alice who normally is well um really bored and is um well really likes this guy who pretty muched dumped her. The whole book is about Alice's dull life that gets turned upside down when she moves. The symbol in this book has to be well first drugs and two her diary. Drugs she says makes her life more exciting and makes life into something more than she imagined. Drugs is a symbol for her downfall and another symbol is that the drugs are her other side. The side that has never existed or that has been hidden. Thw side of her that she always wanted to know about but in a way she was too scared. So mostly the drugs symbolize a wild side of Alice she never knew about but always wanted to let out. Her diary is another symbol. She even says that her diary is her best friend. So that means that her diary is something that lets her vent. It's her inner self she wants eveerone to know about and yet she doesnt want everyone to know about. So its yeah. All symbols.

Ok. So I finished Howl's Moving Castle and well it was very interesting. I also watched the movie and I have to say, the movie is VERY different. The movie had nothing about Martha and Lettie. The movie also had nothing about Mrs. A.....I dont remember how to spell her name. The book had nothing about Howl becoming a bird monster thing and had very little romance compared to the book. But its Miyazaki so what I can say? Personally I liked the movie more because um well I just do. In the movie Miyazaki changed the whole thing sorta in a way. I mean he had all the main characters and stuff but he also changed some of the main characters. Wizard Suliman was a lady and I don't want to say anymore because it might ruin the book. So oh well. But yeah the book was still very good. It was different and the ending....ok I gotta admit the ending was a load of crap in my opinion. Seriously, I mean he saves her in a sorta of way and she saves him in a sort of way. They both break each others curses so its all good. But at the end all they do is ignore everyone else and hold hands while staring at eachother. Isn't that corny?! Plus isn't that R E A L L Y boring for an end. Holding hands...wooo.....=3= So yeah. Then Calcifer comes back because he was gonna miss them and its raining in Market Chipper. Calcifer being a fire.....of course doesn't like the rain. But wht I like about the book is that it has a sequel. Miyazaki's movies NEVER and I mean NEVER have sequels. So its good.
I kinda read the book after I watched the movie. And I wanted to read te bok because well Miyazaki is a really amazing movie director. This was his first movie he got his story line from a book. So thats really the main reason why I read this book.
****I gotta edit this later because I have this picture and I didnt upload it onto my server yet so I'll do that later this weekend.
